Taking the SHEEN off the Air..... 2 1/2 Men on Hiatus...

After Charlie Sheen goes public with his dislike for "this contaminated little maggot"

"Sheen, talking on "The Dan Patrick Show," advised people to stay away from crack cocaine "unless you can manage it socially.""

- - -
Yeah... way to nuke your career.......

Pity. I do like that show.

I don't get the big deal with Charlie Sheen?

He gets paid a lot of money for not a lot of work.

So he gets on it when he knocks off.

Lots of people with jobs like this do similar things.

I don't get why this is news?

As long as he shows up for work who cares?

Personally, I'm fascinated by what's going on there... and I don't even watch the show.

...

They have to stop production at least once or twice every year for him to recover at a hospital or rehab. They hold production whenever he's late, which is allegedly quite often. When he does show up, he's often high or hung over and he moves like a creaky old man so shooting goes into overtime and post-production then goes into overtime -- which usually costs 2-3 times more -- and then they don't deliver the episodes to the network on time, which incurs penalty payments and blows bonuses.

Shooting has been on-hold, but until the show is canceled and the sets are struck they're still spending a small fortune to keep it all up and waiting for action... but even so not many people on the crew are gonna get a paycheck when there's no production.

Plus, the cost of the show goes up every time he pulls this cr@p because their risk increases so the insurance rates go up. (The insurance companies pretty much run Hollywood.) That means cuts have to happen elsewhere in the budget to make up the difference.

So he's screwing the big guys and he's screwing the little guys.

I doubt there's a person involved with the show who isn't royally pissed off at him.

And now he's bad-mouthing them and potentially alienating viewers with his foul-mouthed blabbering.

The guy makes people money just by showing up, but getting him to show up is tricky business.

It'll be interesting to see if he ever works again.

I've lived with an alcoholic and watching someone dive for rock bottom head first in total denial is not fun.
I've also watched painkillers rot brain cells permanently.

I have no desire nor do I find it entertaining to watch celebrities dive bomb.

I will however give major kudoes to anyone who straightens themselves out and stays that way.

No kidding. Can you imagine being a lowly lighting guy or some equally unglamorous/unfamous role and you get the call to just stay home...again...Mr. Sheen is on his 5th bender this week.

I think this whole Charlie Sheen drama is a heck of a lot funnier than show itself.

Alan had become a buffoon that I couldn't stand to watch any more, so no great loss.
It's in syndication now, so all will continue to make money from it.
Still, there's nothing quite a graceful exit, huh?

I will still pray for him because he is a child of God who has, self-inflicted or not, lost his way.
I have seen enough episodes of 'Two and a Half Men' to know it is crude. I could never get past
how they exposed that young boy to all of those sexual and sometimes deviant situations. His
parents threw him to the wolves.

Wow, just starting to hear the details. He's really taking a run at the Biggest Public Flameout of All Time crown. He even slags off Thomas Jefferson??

I'm no fan of him or the show, but here's hoping somebody manages to put on the brakes on this affair before something truly unfortunate happens.

I've been more interested in the Chuck Lorre vanity cards mini-drama:

As for Charlie Sheen, I think it is a very sad and tragic story but it's plainly time for the network to give up on him and the show.

I don't watch but one or two TV shows these days so I know nothing about this show, but I find it incomprehensible that Sheen is the lead in a hit TV show. What the hell are people thinking? IF he's this much of an ass, REPLACE HIM. It's not like the guy has any particular skills. Certainly not in the realm of acting....

who hired him in the first place? whatta moran!

top 20 pulling in millions in ad revenue certainly doesn't mean much to the networks

But they were both in Men at Work. A true classic.

He's obviously the product of a librul upbringing. Too bad about what happened to his brother Emilio who decided to go native and produce wine as well as movies. (sarcasm emoticon needed here)

There is no accounting for how or why people take the paths they do, I have two adult children whose life paths have diverged about as much as the Sheen Estrevez siblings have.

billb is correct in giving credit to those who can and do get a handle on the disease. Just noticed another multi-millionaire baseball player declared himself free of any problem a week after being booked for DUI at .275, that's enough intoxication to kill some people.

It's a disease, not a moral issue folks. Understand that and you might put yourself in a position to help someone afflicted. It's a rare family or friend group that doesn't have a member in need of that support.

I've never liked shows where the main character is an @#$%&, particularly when the actor only has to act naturally.

I wonder what Martin is thinking about all of this. He's had his own hell to go through.

At least we'll have The Arrival, a pretty darn good sci-fi picture in which Charlie did a good job.

Oh, I didn't realise he wasn't showing up for work.

That is really bad because yeah, many, many people are involved.

I never really followed it that closely.

They generally just report done here about his after hours antics.
