I was wondering how the 20% off Office Depot or other discounts work, along with the "at the register" instant rebates, etc.

I was in Office Depot tonight and did not see the Pixma 550 that was talked about a few days ago. The employees did not know anything about coupons, but they did know about instant rebates and mail in rebates.

Good deals can be had. BUT bewarned. Office Depot does not return certain technology items. Only exchanges them. Only issue I see with the newer Canon Pixma printers is that you cannot use third party "compatible" ink cartridges at least not yet. None have been hacked/cracked yet. So ink is going to be expensive.

you could look for the older MP750/780 -- they do take the generic carts

the 750 doesnt have a fax, otherwise they are the same

everything i have ever tried. did you hear about something sepcifc not working? i can try it.

Nothing specific - they (Canon) said it was incompatible.
