I took it off on Saturday when I went to the pool. I know I told my wife that I put it on dressing cabinet so I won't lose it at the pool.

forgot to put it back on when I got home and yesterday completely forgot about it. Now I cannot find it.

I suspect it may have fallen on the floor and the toddler found it. he could have put it in his mouth and swallowed it. or he could have put it in the trash bin in the kitchen. if it's the former, I may have a chance it's still didn't come out yet and I should check diapers over the next few days. if it's the later, I already took the trash out (but they didn't pick up the garbage yet since it's holiday).

hmm, what an unpleasant task ahead.

'Last time somebody lost a ring around here it slid off the top of the dresser and into the top drawer.

Find a friend with a metal detector with a precious metals discriminator, and see if you're diaper-diggin, or dumpster diving...

upon some discussion with the toddler (almost 21 months), when we showed him my wife's matching ring, and asked him what did he do with mine, he pointed at the HVAC air register located in the floor or our bedroom. First, I am not sure how he got to the ring, since I think I left it on a dresser. Then assuming he dropped it in the HVAC register, I already took that out and looked with a strong LED light and a mirror and I can see about 4 feet into the duct and I cannot see the ring.

Then I asked him again in another room and he pointed at another register. I already inspected all the registers located in the floor, no luck.

Maybe he knows something or he's making things up.

I hope he didn't swallow it.

I've probably taken mine off for a combined total of 10 minutes in 20 years.

I take mine off before going swimming - afraid it might slip off. Also take it off for yard work, home improvement projects (some, not all) and automotive work. Decision process involves will the ring get damaged, caught causing bodily injury or will work involve/potentially involve electricity. I follow this process for removing my watch as well.

I lost mine and found it a shirt pocket about 5 or 6 years later. In the mean time my wife gave me a birthday
card at my parents house that contained my Grandfathers wedding ring, he had passed away earlier that year.
Needless to say it pretty choked at the moment, so now I have two, I proudly wear "Pop's" ring as they were
married for almost 70 years.

My ring was starting to chafe my finger about 6 months ago. I took it off and it felt so much better that I haven't put it back on yet. Wife doesn't seem to mind - she knows that I am such a hopeless liar that I'd never be able to convince anyone that I was single anyway.

turns out I didn't put it on that dresser like I usually do, but in the bathroom in one of wife's things that holds some cosmetics stuff. Needless to say, I felt pretty embarrassed for interrogating the little one, opening up HVAC vents and digging though the trash (in my kitchen, I didn't get to the dumpster yet). And no, no diapers have been opened yet (that would have been the next stage).

we went to the pool again, but this time I showed wife where I put the ring. Yeah, I am afraid it could slip off. And wife was with me at the pool.

My experience would show that if girls want to pick you up, they much prefer the ring to the possibly single men out there. At least they have been vetted by one other female!

Same here. Except it was years ago. Next year will be our 20th so I don't think she's too concerned.
