Looking for a replacement for Canvas X - vector drawing program

Looking for a replacement for Canvas X. I have some maps, building drawings and poster type drawings in Canvas and want to find a replacement before Lion (which I understand won't support Rosetta).

I need a vector program not a paint program. I have looked at Intaglio, Zeus Draw, & VectorDesigner. All three have good points but something is missing. I would like something $100 or less.

Three things I really need are 1. Layers, 2. Dimension Lines, & 3. Ability to set drawing scale (ie. 1" = 100 ft).

Of the three listed, I couldn't find anyway to set the document scale. Am I missing something or is there another program I need to look at?

MacUpDate - Intaglio

MacUpDate - ZeusDraw

MacUpDate - VectorDesigner

Thanks,
Fred

So keep an old machine around to run the good stuff :-)

I keep a PM7300 around to run Canvas 3.5.2. grinning smiley

Kind of a bummer that Canvas, which started as a Mac program is now PC only. angry smiley

Seriously, just keep a Leopard/Snow Leopard bootable drive around for old(er) school compatibility if there are programs that you still use and derive benefit from.

Yes, Abandoned Canvas lover here also. When they called it "The Swiss Army Knife" of graphics programs they were correct.

Sorry, I have now replacement, I can make some of the old stuff in Pages, but that is not close to a substitute at all.

I loved that Canvas was both Vector and Raster--and could easily switch.

I use Intaglio almost every day.

Is this what you mean about the scaling issue?

Most of what I used to do in Canvas I now do in Omnigraffle.

It might not be sophisticated enough for your needs, but for me, it is all I needed.

I tried Illustrator for a bit, but it was too complicated for me...

Thanks Flareslow,

I had missed that and the check box to use in new drawings.

I may have to purchase Intaglio.

I'll also check out Omnigraffle.
