OT: Too much information
Posted by: Buzz

Been fighting a pre-summer cold for a few days now. Started in head/sinus, went through lots of kleenex, a bunch of post nasal drip w/ lack of taste/loss of appetite, migrated to chest w/ nasty/phlegmy cough, then actually started to finally feel a fair bit better this evening, only to now have bloated gassy stomach keeping me awake w/ nothing better to do than post crud like this [and after ordering ink refills for Baby Buzz's printer...].

Admit it, you wouldn't have read this post if it had been titled, "Waiting for a good f@®†..."

Sometimes it is what it is...
and then there's times when it's really better.

Guzzle some Robitussin. Worked for me.

Same here, except the gas part. It felt like my eye was going to explode when it moved from a fever and aches to a sinus cold. Missed 4 days of work last week.

Hope things clear up.

Didn't this come up here recently? IIRC, there was some good advice in some threads...

Lemme see...

I've had a nasty cold ever since we got back from Las Vegas. I'm blaming it on all that recirculated airplane air. Whatever the cause, it has been no fun at all, but summer colds never are. The stuffiness in the head the sneezing the aches and pains, not any fun. I hope it will be gone soon.

Didn't see it on iTMS. Perhaps via LimeWire?

Watch that. I've had a few clients have walking pneumonia recently. Might just be a sinus infection, or even a simple summer cold, as mentioned.

Regardless (and assuming it's not walking pneumonia), a quick visit to an E/N/T would clear you right up. (I would get a sinus infection once or twice a year back home; two shots in the butt, a quick nasal spray, and an antibiotic and I felt worlds better within a day or so.)

New.Dad, yes, it's the name of a Police song as well as a Duran Duran song/single from 1993.

What exactly does "walking pneumonia" mean?
The digestive stuff could just be from inactivity.

I suffer from the same sensitivity that you do. A few nuggets of wisdom were shared with me and I'm "trying" to incorporate them into my life. First, remember that nobody can hurt your feelings unless you let them. You can always reject what is being forced on you emotionally.
Second, nothing changes unless you change it. If you don't want the behavior to be repeated then you need to take action. Otherwise the kid has learned that his behavior is the way to get things done, because everyone lets him get away with it.
In the meantime I sympathize because I've been there.

Same as the "Boogie Woogie Flu", but you walk instead of dance!

Well, since we're sharing...
I woke up yesterday morning and found my arms, back and chest were covered in hives. Both hands were very swollen but I wasn't having any trouble breathing and my throat wasn't closing.

Trucked out to the allergists office 1st thing in the morning and we have absolutely no idea why I broke out. The only thing I can think of that I had some shrimp in a salad the day before, but even with all the allergies I have I have never ever had a reaction to shrimp.

She prescribed a bunch of stuff and it seems to be working. Today the hives are gone but it still itches a bit. I am sure I'll be back to normal tomorrow but it was really strange.

Someone, somewhere, maybe in one of those threads I posted, mentioned a med that was specifically good for clearing sinus infections. It might be the DMX that I'm thinking of; I don't seem to recall that it was prescription necessarily...
