New Macbook Air -- reversed keyboard backlight

Hi there, everyone!

Got me a new 13" MBA yesterday, and I've been loving it. But, one issue that I've had -- I've noticed that my backlight is reversed. What I mean by that is in a bright room, the backlight is on. When I put my finger over the iSight camera, the backlight turns off. It's supposed to be the other way around. I found an Apple support discussion from 2008 about it but nobody posted a solution. Anybody else have this issue or know of a solution? It's not a huge deal to manually control it, but still, I'd like it to work the way it is supposed to!

Doesn't a darker room call for less backlightedness?

I understand the ALS on the screen dimming in darkness, but the keyboard?

Like driving on a dark road; darker environment means dimming the dash lights.

TQ, baby...TQ.

Greg,
I don't think you are getting the point. If there is darkness, how is it helpful if the keyboard light turns off?

The keyboard light should not work the same as the display backlight. The screen will actually get brighter with more ambient light in order to counterbalance being washed out, but will dim as the ambient light decreases.

A keyboard backlight should turn off with enough ambient light and get brighter with less ambient light. The behaviors are not the same.

binky,
Does this problem persist across user accounts? It not, try removing the keyboard preferences from the effected account.

In a dark room with the screen backlights dimmed, you don't find the bright keyboard a glaring annoyance reflecting in the glossy screen ?

No.

On my first gen, in a dark room I have to use the glare of the screen to see the keys . . .

Sounds like time for a call to Apple.
