How many pairs of Shoes/Boots do You have?

I am embarrassed to say.

My Nickname is Boots among my Atlanta friends. I own a dozen plus pairs of cowboy boots.

In defense my mother and I wear the same size shoe, and she has loved shoes forever. I have 4 pair of custom cowboy boots from her.

I would suggest doing the old school routine of cleaning and polishing good shoes. Very few shoes are made of leather these days, much less are handmade. The fit and finish of so called designer shoes is not impressive, these days. The classic dress shoes that I have are so much better made than any new ones.

As for storage, I bought a case of clear plastic shoe boxes for those without boxes. But I prefer the original boxes. Shoes get dusty. Ikea makes some nylon underbed big flat storage bags. I think with a hard insert these would be good.

I am trying to get away from plastic as any form of storage.

I think great shoes and a great handbag can give a lot of style to very basic clothes.

A pair of walking / work shoes. Rockports. I'll mourn when they wear out.
A pair of black tassel loafers that live under my desk at work for when I wear boots.
A pair of black steel toed dress shoes that now also live under my desk at work, just in case. I found 'em last month.. I forgot I put under my desk at home two years ago.
A pair of Rockport loafers that are kinda tight.
A pair of black dress shoes. That don't fit me any more. My feet done spreaded out. But they're such NICE shoes... 1970's leather soled Floresheim. Awesome dancing shoes. (I'm not as light on my feet any more either.)
Two pairs of sandals- one slip on, one 'guide' strap-on. I refuse to wear thongs... feels weird between the toes.
A pair of water shoes. Lake Erie is NOT 'sandy'. It's pebbly. Ouch.
Two pairs of ratty tennis shoes. Heavily shoe gooed back together. I'm cheap.
A pair of aging running shoes to go with my aging running walking fast.
A pair of slip on 'boat shoes'. Very good wet surface soles. Kept me alive yesterday morning as I was clambering around the rocks around a Lake Erie shore lighthouse.

A pair of steel toed Timberland shoes, EESD safe (conductive) to wear around the SMT machines at work.
A pair of Timberland boots to wear on campouts and in the winter.
A pair of high waterproof insulated hunting boot for winter stuff. When my teenaged son doesn't steal 'em first.
A pair of floppy rubber mud boots.
A pair of cross country ski boots to go with the cross country skiis. 3 pin old skool bindings, baby.

NO pointy high heels or italian designer shoes in the batch.

And mrs. cbelt3 has two nice pairs of nurse shoes and a pair of nice cross-trainer tennies. And a pair of Timberland boots. And a pair of cross country ski boots (NNN binding). And a pair of slip on winter boots. And a few pairs of heels and flats that she doesn't wear any more because they hurt too much. The daughter keeps stealing 'em anyway.

My GOD ! I have more pairs of shoes than my wife !

Does this mean I'm gay ? confused smiley

it's recommended that people have more than one pair of daily shoes so they can be worn on alternate days; this allows bacteria to die as the shoes air out.

so wearing the same pair of shoes every day isn't good for your feet.

or for the noses of those around you!

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

OK, I'm pretty tolerant of other people's lifestyle choices, but more than zero pairs of Crocs is just wrong.

1 pair of everyday sandals
1 pair of everyday shoes
1 pair of nice everyday shoes (also my dress shoes for long skirts and pants)
1 pair of white high heel sandals
1 pair of black dress sandals (wedges, not heels)
1 pair of sneakers (working out, dirty work)
1 pair of flip flops

I should find a second pair of everyday sandals so I can alternate but as a woman's slightly wide size 5 I hate shoe shopping. I'd love to consolidate and get only one pair of dressy sandals but I have yet to find anything that works w/ for all my dressy sandal needs.
