trying to save the pismo

Some of you may have read my previous postings about an ailing pismo. My wife poured a glass of water into it and of course it stopped working. After drying out it did start up and function but it runs really slow and the drive has constant activity. I tried to run diskwarrior on it but it says the damage is too extensive. So I'm backing it up now and preparing for the drive format. Hopefully it is just directory damage.

Good luck. I love Pismos and hope you can save it.

may the forces of good be on your side in your endeavor.

when apple makes another laptop as good as the pismo, I'll buy it [along w/ the throngs of others similarly in waiting].

Sometimes it is what it is...
and then there's times when it's really better.

Wipe the drive, then start over... if this happens repeatedly, then start thinking about getting a new machine, as the water might have done damage to the motherboard, ATA controller, hard drive, memory, etc. (Ordinarily I would say repair it, since it's a Pismo-- and I'm typing this from my own now, but... it's getting long enough in the tooth, that a hardware problem that is unclear in what it is, is not worth repairing-- but rather just replacing the machine.)

Wiped the HD last night and copied the HD from my wife's pismo using carbon copy cloner. That took FOREVER. Anyway, my pismo is back up and running and seems to work much better than it did before.

Next I will be looking to sell my wife's pismo on ebay. It has problems. The power board doesn't work (needs to be resoldered), the battery is dead, and the screen is getting dim. I leave saturday for vacation and when I return I'm putting it up for sale on ebay, somebody needs the parts.
