Now THAT's a Laser Pointer! (Gadget Geek Alert)

125mW green laser pointer, anyone? (the typical garden variety laser pointer is at or less than 5mW).
They have video clips of lighting matches and popping balloons with 'em.

DEFINTELY not toys!!! But if you need to put a dot on something for illustrative purposes in DAYLIGHT those pansy-ass 5mW jobs really won't cut it.

Check out the "Spyder" model too... that borders on man portable laser weaponry! 300 mW and a range of up to 120 MILES...

(I think I want one of the "Classic" 35mW models... but I can't talk myself into $100 bucks for it...)

let me know when they make a 10 watt one that you run off of a car battery.

I can think of a few auto-mounted uses for one. Someone cuts you off? Pop their tire!

Cool. I have one of the 35mW green ones that I use in my physics classes for optics. It is awesome, and the kids love it. A little bit of "fog in a can" (brand name "Fantasy FX -- fog in a can"), and I can show all sorts of cool reflection and refraction. I'd love a 125mW one...

Yes, but much easier to justify vs. that DillonAero M134D [www.dillonaero.com] you're lusting after eye popping smiley

I dunno Tofer...
From what I've been reading, above the 35mW models, even difracted or reflected off opaque surface lasers can cause eye damage at close range (less than 30 feet-ish).

Pretty darn cool though..

Looks like there are 2 WATT laser diodes on the market that gadget geeks are retrofitting into flashlight bodies... The electronics part doesn't look like childsplay though!... which is probably good, since there are guys like Racer X out there.. wouldn't want TOO many car mounted phasers, now would we! grinning smiley

Plenty of 20-35mW pointers on eBay too...

Hey, Racer, he gave you a way to make this portable for your car!
Now, if you can find out where he lives.....

Sorry, PaulF. I just couldn't resist!

I have some news for you. My Buick racing buddy (with the factory Stage 2 car) is half owner of a business across from Dillon. I have seen far more awesome stuff that that first-hand. Including his flyable MiGs.

I have seen far more awesome stuff that that first-hand.

I'm not greedy. That little gun mounted on my car, helmet guided, would do much to quell rude drivers.

Hey, RACER X objectified her.. I just ogled her! Honest!

Dillon Precision Reloading is run by the same guy... He has machine guns, privately held Mig fighers, and as far as I know, one of only TWO civilian owned miniguns.

AND to top all that off, he has those hot models pose for his catalogs with guns and planes and stuff... (and its always suprisingly tasteful.. )

Hey, in Mike's defense, some of those models are actually employees.

Those .38s Paul? I can't tell.

His MiGs are in an attached hangar to Dillon Precision, and he has a private taxiway to the end of the Scottsdale Airpark. I saw this MiG driving along on a back street at my buddies shop, and I had to ask. One thing led to another and I got a peek into "the back room".

I've had a green laser for a couple of months & it's definitely cool. The beam is clearly visible, even in daylight. I got it at LuckyDuck.com from a tip on that other forum.

I still want to use this Air Force Weapons lab beam director that I worked on in the early 90's. Range is classified, but waaay in excess of those piddly little jobbies you're talking about.

Of course, a three story high director and aircraft hangar sized laser is kind of tough to put in your pocket.
