I'm thinking seriously about ditching our POTS and changing to VoIP service. The only problem is our alarm system monitoring. Someone on the other website (decocritter?) recommended NextAlarm.com for broadband monitoring. However, our alarm system (DSC 1500) is not compatible.

I emailed them asking for any advice on upgrading it to a compatible DSC system but have yet to get any response, so I thought I'd post the question here.

What do y'all with VoIP do about alarm system monitoring? Does anyone know if this is an upgrade I can do myself? I doubt that our current monitoring company would help me out considering I'm going to dump their service right after it gets working.

i use NextAlarm but my system was compatible. i did have to have my old company do a service call to unlock the panel, though. they weren't too happy but complied; they were convinced this VOIP thing was just a fad and i would be back.

absolutely no complaints about the service from Nextalarm.
