Yeah, I was thinking that it needed something a bit more acidic. The pineapple would be great for that. Adds some body too.

Don't forget a bit of Kiwi as garnish. Nice color contrast.

There are some really good fruits we never see in the U.S. We had some "ice cream bean" fruit in Costa Rica last year. The flavor is described as being like vanilla ice cream, but I found it mildly pear like. I don't think what we had was fresh - might have been canned.

I've seen durian but never had any. "Tastes like heaven, smells like hell." Some countries ban them from being carried on public buses.

Other than lichees, what fruit are common in the Philippines that we don't have (commonly available) stateside?

Rambutan is 1 of the fruits that is very sweet and delicious. A little like lychee



Jack Fruit is also Delicious It reminds me of Juicy Fruit gum in taste

i made this morning a smoothie with
blueberries, bananas, frozen watermelon and OJ cubes
with a dollop of greek yogurt.

a little less exotic than yours above, but still tasty

We are starting to see dragonfruit sometimes in the US, but I doubt its "fresh". The mangosteen looks like something that would travel well.

(I am sure I am completely ignoring ethnic markets when I refer to what's "available in the U.S." I speak of your local Kroger or Safeway.)
