Whats with Ozzie and this sportswriter guy. They have a bad date and not agree to not date again or something?

Anyone know whats behind the manager of a major league team going whacko on a sportswriter type? Is Ozzie trying to out this guy?

Jay Marotti trys to be the most controversial guy in sports and apparently has taken on Ozzie in the past. Ozzie is more than a little crazy too. They love Ozzie on the South Side though and Jay sells papers for the Sun Times. I think Guillen went overboard.

So its true? The goat's alive or dead or whatever happens to a 50 year old goat?

It's an 88 year old goat and passed on. I think it started in 1918 when Red Sox won Series. 1945 was last Series with Newhouser and Tigers.

The restaurant Billy Goat Sianis owned is below Michigan Ave. near river and truly awful. I hear inspiration for "Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger" on SNL. It really is horrible.

Ya that last beer can be the toughest to drink. It gets many of them that aren't on something else.

Red Sox had a manager, Darrel Johnson, he and i closed a lot of joints. He's passed now. Too many drinks over to many years. Ozzie might well take his money and go home, he'll not survive this one.

Mint is wrong. Billy Goat nonsensense happened in 1945. Bstrdo. Last World Series.

Boy you're older than even I thought. Ever been to the Ventura County Fair?

It's at Seaside park, next to the ocean and it's coming up in a month. Not only that but it's on a rail line you cheap @#$%&. We could meet there and hook you up to the 100 foot bungie jump.

What do you say? Time to leave the basement?

Went to Central Cal Fair in Paso Robles once, Big fun. Gas and Motels are a deterrent now.

It was 1908 when the Cubs won the NL pennant ultimately because of a controversial call in a late September game forced by Frank Chance (Cubs mgr and legendary 1st sacker of Tinker to Evers to Chance fame) on the Giants. The Cubs, Giants and Pirates were in a very tight pennant race. The Cubs won a one game playoff with the Giants. Stole the pennant and sentanced a poor rookie first baseman for the Giants named Fred Merkle to the gallows of the press and fans.

Merkle was blamed for making the mistake by the press and fans. But it was Chance's move that was chicken crap. The call on Merkle was on a rule that had not been enforced up to that point in baseball history. And in a situation where it should not have been called even if it had been being enforced.

Cubs won the WS that year as well. Last one they won.

I'm no fan of Guillen at all. Dude's got a big mouth, and this is nowhere near the first time he's used it. But I am tired of self-righteous sports columnists who constantly try to make themselves bigger than the very story they're covering.

Marotti would fit right in at Sports Illustrated.

Now if we can only get rid of Dusty Baker.
