Apple 27" Thunderbolt Display not working with PC

A few days ago before purchasing the new Apple 27" Thunderbolt LED display, I told the sales rep that I was going to use it on a PC and I noticed how there isn't a DVI cable coming from the monitor. He showed me the Apple MiniDisplay Port to DVI adapter and told me that would do the job. After connecting it all together, it didn't work and after looking through the manual, it clearly states that this particular monitor wont work with the adapter.

I have two questions: Does anyone know if I get a thunderbolt to DVI adapter, that this will work with the monitor. If I am correct, the thunderbolt cable itself is considered as a MiniDisplay port but is different because a regular MiniDisplay Port cable doesn't have the speeds of a Thunderport cable. And second, if I get a video card with a MiniDisplay port, will that resolve my issue?

Thanks in advance to those that can provide any answers/solutions.

You don't have to be an Apple fanboy to appreciate the new Apple Thunderbolt Display ($999 direct), but you will need to have a Thunderbolt-ready Mac destkop or laptop to use it, and be willing to shell out close to a grand for the privilege.

The sales rep was wrong.

Did you buy it at an Apple Store?

You could save $50 and get a dell with No thunderbolt connectivity.
