Are there still troubles fitting a Seagate drive into a miniStack v.1?

Hopefully my ministack and other items I ordered from OWC last monday will arrive today!

Now, I need another HD for the ministack (not that I don't have loose hard drives lying around, but they're all either being used or slated for a specific purpose (ReplayTV upgrade, Tiger OS upgrade HD, etc).

I read that OWC was reporting trouble fitting Seagate drives into MiniStack v.1's, has that been other's experience? All I have is Seagate drives, but if that's the case I'll have to look for a WD in the size I choose to go with.

Thanks,
~A

The original V1 will not accommodate any Seagate made in the last 2 years. REALLY old Barracuda drives will fit - but the modern ones will not.

The V2 eliminated that problem. :>)

What is diffrent about the Seagates? I have 3 sitting here, 7200.9s and a few IBM deathstars. They look the same size to me? Whats the diffrence?

Square corners on the Seagate drives, vs. rounded ones on all others. It's millimeters, really. But enough.... sad smiley

I just bought 4 MiniStack v1's from OWC on closeout and 4 Seagate 300gb 7200's with the 16 mb cache from Fry's and other than a snug fit they're all sitting here spinning away. The only thing I changed was adjusting the path of the fan and power wires so that they were tucked in a little better. Seems fine here.

My son purchased a v.1 Ministack and we were told by the OWC rep that the 160 GB Seagate that my son owned should fit okay (perhaps snug) in the v.1 enclosure. The OWC rep indicated that the larger (he didn't say what size)Seagate drives might have problems. I hope we were not mislead....Dave
