Wow - I live in TX just south of the OK border and the house shook. No damage but scary. Dog seemed as upset by it as we were. Right before 11 pm CDT.

The drought and the 100+ temps cooked the pecans this summer. There are very few around.

Our son is a freshman at University of OK in Norman, OK. His dorm room is on the 9th floor of a dormitory tower. The kid has never experienced an earthquake before...and now he is (almost) at the top of a dorm tower! I'm sure he is fine, but it would have been nice to hear from him.

Yeah, no kidding! Keep the 5.2's rolling twice a week... It beats the BIG summanumbatches New Madrid is capable of.

Besides... Most 5.2's are hardly worth getting worked up about...

USGS is saying 5.6 magnitude.

It hit one county up and over from us. It shook the house side-to-side, not rolling up and down so much, with an odd roaring noise. Sounded like a very strong wind, almost like it was going to take the roof off. I won't know for sure until tomorrow when I can get a look at everything in the daylight, but it appears that no significant damage was done.

By the way, at 5.6, it is the strongest quake to be recorded here in Oklahoma. Ever.

OK, a 5.6 is worth gettin out of bed for...especially since there's crazy folks who build buildings out of bricks out there. Worth giving foundations and walls a good look, if they're brick.
