Zero out data on the HD and reinstall the OS. This will let your friend input any info they want when they setup the computer with their info. Very easy to do

Thanks Carm...I edited my post to indicate that I wanted to leave everything on the comp and not have to go through another re-install. Is it possible to do this via booting from the software install disc?

What do you want to save on the computer? Makes no sense. pRON maybe (j/k) winking smiley

Backup whatever you think is "valuable" and reinstall.

Well, I went through an clean install already, loaded a bunch of programs that I have, photoshop and a bunch of others...forgot to create the primary account in his name. Dont want to do it again. I thought one could do it by booting from the install disk. No?

Not much help here, 'cause I don't know how to do it. But surely someone here must know (assuming that it can be done). Kinda unfortunate, but, like Big Daddy says...get ready to duck!

why, is someone going to lecture me about including software in this sale? I would prefer a lecture about enjoying fois gras with a glass of old style but if you have to then rip away.

I'd just like to pass the machine on the way it is now. I thought there was a way

Thank you, Carm. I didn't know it was now possible to do it without reinstalling the OS.

Like Kraniac, I find reinstalling tedious. I recently had to go through it on two computers and it took many hours and I still have more work to do.

After reading the Mac docs, i was preparing to DUCK. Actually, I was preparing a raid on my kids stash of everclear and gatorade. Luckily and thankfully, you included a link to changeshortname. I hate gatorade. And, you held off on the fois gras crap...dont get me started on banning trans fats. My partially hydrogenated frosted flake oil is close to my heart's walls. Thanks for that and ill decide whether i should just do this crap all over (clean install) or try to just change the friggin names.

Now, i wish someone could help me with the topic i made directly below this one regarding identifying matched pairs of RAM.
