I put in for two...you know for redundancy...

I was in the market for a dual 2.4Ghz xeon 2GB ECC triple interface drive case anyway.

as pRON says, it goes to the front page now, putting the part number in takes you the item page, but when you click on buy it goes back to the front page.

But I was able to order the NAS server for $23.99 using the coupon code.

The Taoist Zhuangzi said, "Good order results spontaneously when things are let alone".
The sociologist, and historian, Adam Ferguson described the phenomenon of spontaneous order in society as the "result of human action, but not the execution of any human design".

I got my email confirmation from Google which says: :Your order is in progress.
Jul 2 -
Your order was sent to RitzCamera.com. You'll receive an email confirmation from Google shortly."

Perhaps that means it's not a done deal unless I get a confirmation from Ritz Camera.

As far as I know there wasn't a disclaimer, so Ritz Camera may be on the hook to fulfill any completed orders from Google???

Waiting…

So I guess I'm not the only one who thought 2 was the optimum number to order. It's not super greedy, but it's more than 1.

I ordered two network servers, too, though I see in my email they believe I was attempting to procure two copies of Doom 3.

I didn't use Google because I figured I was getting a good enough deal to begin with. It'll be interesting to see if using Google makes a difference.

I've been digging through their site and I haven't unearthed any "price mistake" language, though if they just cancel the sales quickly and send out an email explaining what happened, that's good enough for me. If, on the other hand, they ship me Star Wars and Doom games, then expect me to ship them back, I won't be happy.

If they do a Buy.com, and honor some sales, but not others -- honoring sales placed after mine, in fact -- and then a couple days later put up new "price mistake" fine print and lie and say it was always there, then take weeks to refund my credit card, so I have to write a check to cover the credit card bill while they keep changing their story, and then continue to sell loss leaders but start calling them the "price mistake of the day," well, then I really won't be happy.

Anyhow, Gandalf's thing was Fly, you fools!

If it's a disease, I don't want to be cured...well...maybe I should...

Good night you fools. Please chime back in if any of y'all receive your orders. Even if most of us didn't, it'd be worth it if some did (but like Mike says, I'd be disappointed if they didn't treat everyone equitably). Especially those servers. Ain't no way that can happen. But then again, who am I to say? I seem to recall that a handful scored that deal on brand new fully loaded Xserves (Dual 1.33 G4's, 720GB storage, and 2GB? of RAM) back a couple of years ago advertised on DealMac (from Small Dog) for $2700 (when they were retailing for over $6K).

So don't forget y'all. Let the forum know now, ya' hear? Besides, I'm sure we'll be talking about this during the next couple of days, as we start receiving the first communiques from Ritz on how they're gonna handle this situation (and all the daytime crew will be like wondering, WTH).

It's been a hell'uv a ride. Live long and deal well...

(^_^)

Now to watch the 4400, The Dead Zone and Sharpe's Gold which I recorded earlier.

No...but you never can tell. Every now and then, something slips through the cracks. I've never had this (server) good of a deal (probably because price mistakes of this magnitude are rare), but once I ordered an HP LaserJet 1320 for $8 (after MIR, normally retails for $300 min, full duplex). Orders on that one were being cancelled left and right. Somehow my order slipped through, and was delivered. And once delivered, by law there's nothing that can be done about it.

And what about that Small Dog Xserve deal from a couple of years back (a $6.4K fully loaded server for $2.7K)?

Like you said, no one should realistically expect it, but, it never hurts (except maybe the merchant) to try. If the deal is that good, and the merchant is reputable, then order first, ask questions later.

I ordered two of these last night from a link on SlickDeals.net (which has completely vanished, BTW) and received the PlayStation2 e-mail verification. I immediately e-mailed their CS department about the discrepancy and attached PDFs I'd made of the item description and order confirmation pages from within Safari. Haven't received an order cancellation notice yet -- we'll see what happens...

EDIT: Checked my order status at their web site -- the order's been cancelled.

It is what it is.

The pricing database must be malfunctioning.

They list some very strange prices, such as this:

Iomega Zip 250 Zip Drive

Our Stock # EP4488039

Our Price: $1,636.45

That's a different product, Jerry. Nonetheless, it illustrates the fact that Ritz Camera will never have a legit deal in the realm of either of those from last night. $263 plus shipping and tax is a shameful ripoff for that thing.

Yes, but a diff one, without FW800--I'm sure their actual price for the one we didn't scam 'em on is in a similar outlandish stratum.
