need help finding an AC adapter/transformer for 15" LCD

Mitsubishi 15" LCD display, DiamondPoint V50LCD.
needs its AC brick/cord combo, someone misplaced it (not me).

Googled for a while, no good leads.
Can any old adapter that matches the voltage be used?

on the back it says 12V DC, solid line over dotted line, 2.5A.
lower down it says Model: L153FF

would make a nice small palette monitor & looks like the same viewable area as my 17" CRT.

thanks for any help or sites you can link to!

If it is a standard jack, and you pay attention to polarity, then a good quality adapter should work. Most manufacturers say to use the OEM adapter only since there are crappy AC/DC adapters out there and they want to avoid warranty repairs. But a good adapter with the correct voltage may work. FYI: a slightly higher rated AC adapter (i.e. 12 V DC, 3.0 A instead of 2.5 A) should also work, but do not use a lower that 2.5 A adapter.

Also, make absolutely sure it is a AC/DC adapter, I have seen AC/AC adapter out there with similar Jacks and you will fry the display with one of those. They are usually bundled with small lamps where polarity is not important. I had one of those make-up mirror-lamps when I started using contact lenses, and I make sure not to use the AC/AC adapter for anything else. Also, at work I found one of these AC/AC adapters in the same box with the Olympus digital camera, and I was about to plug it in, good thing I checked first.

Yes, if I remember correctly and please do verify this....you want to match the polarity and voltage and have at least that number of amps.

You can pick up a replacement at radioshack. I'd bring the monitor with you to make sure that the adapter fits properly.
