Cats and laser pointers

I just had a little fun with my bright green laser pointer and the neighbors cat. I got it so wound up, that it kept looking for the light for five minutes after I stopped using the laser. :-)

I always run the laser under a cabinet before I turning it off.

I thought this was going to be a thread about cats with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads.

My betta fish also goes crazy over the green laser pointer...

Works great on domestic cats but, hasn't worked on feral cats I've tried it on. I guess feral cats somehow know it can't eat them and, they can't eat or mate with it. ;)

Works awesome on my neighbor's Maltese who thinks this is her second home. Hard to understand why she'd think that, considering she has food, water, and toys here..... smiling smiley

She goes bonkers for it, making incredible jumps and running into things along the way. She rarely barks but if I stop playing with her, that gets me scolded for sure.

Good Luck!

Definitely cheap entertainment.
One of my cats hears the sound of the switch & looks at me 1st when I get the laser pointer out. For that reason I consider him to be the smartest cat of the herd, although I've always been impressed by his apparent intelligence.
I also run it under something when I get tired of playing with it.

The reaction that birds have to the laser is quite different. If I shine the laser on the ground anywhere near a bird foraging for worms, it will immediately take to flight. Birds must have amazing peripheral vision.
