It's a big show about celebrities trying to get publicity. I don't think the concept of "tacky" could ever even apply to anything that goes on there unless you describe the entire show. If you're going to complain about that, how about Jennifer Lopez's "how close to naked can I look in a gown" look?

I believe, although I cannot prove, that Jolie was goofing around with the complaints that she has been drab and very boring at these red carpet events. She overdid it, obviously, especially since nobody seems to have gotten the point in the first place. OR she was jealous of all the attention her husband was getting. Or both. Or neither.
I wonder why we always have to find something to freak out about after the Oscars? Maybe Jolie was trying to ensure we wouldn't have to do without our traditional Oscar tut-tut-tut.

I thought the dresses were especially lovely this year. Including Angelina Jolie, who on her worst day outshines most everyone else on their best. My favs were Penelope Cruz, the gf of George Clooney (Stacey something) and Michelle Williams.
Liked Cameron Diaz but not J Lo so much. When she was first interviewed on the red carpet it looked like a nip-slip might be going on - surely not - yikes. (meow.)
I loved Jessica Chastain's gown. And Penelope Cruz's. And Rooney Mara's: her dress proved that you can flaunt your breasts with grace and style. Overall I thought everyone looked great, even the people whose gowns didn't particularly excite me.

I just want to point out that the person in this photo, Allyson Stokke, at the time that it was taken, was an underage high school senior. She is beautiful, and she is of legal age now, but I know that these photos caused her quite a bit of stress because she just wanted to be an anonymous athlete.
