I'm fan. I bought the Alien Legacy Collection(All 4) at a
yard sale. I actually like Aliens('86) better.

Carrie Henn, aka 'Newt': [www.imdb.com]

Her today: [cinema.castlerock.it]

I heard that her parents didn't like the way things were going
in the acting field and wouldn't let her act anymore after
Aliens.

Grateful11,

Well, I received two CDs: Alien and Aliens from my S/O for Xmas. I don't care for other ones. Hopefully, there will be the last one that will blow away all of them :-) 10 years ago she gave me an original movie sized Aliens poster for my birthday. Still have it wrapped in the original wrapping. My only regret: Did not buy the Alien poster and Lt. Rippley action figure. As an art major I admire H.G. Giger's art work.

Regarding Carrie Henn, perhaps, her parents made the right decision.

My ex girlfriend had never seen the original Alien so I rented the DVD so we could have a Scary Movie Night.

I was looking forward to the scene where the alien jumps Dallas. You only see him for a moment but I always thought that was creepy as hell.

The moment came.

She laughed.

I never heard the end of it. sad smiley

I agree with the parents decision but I bet she could make
fan appearances and make some extra dough. It looks like
that Ripley action isn't all that rare or sought after.
They don't go very high on eBay. You could pick one up cheap.

the first two were amazing - aliens = the best sequel ever. But the rest of the series (everyone forgets the 4th one) is a disaster.

I refuse to use the term trilogy or quadrilogy for these movies.

One of the best sci-fi action movies EVER.

A friend and I must have seen that movie 40 times...
At one point at a group-of-friends get together, we started watching it and hit "mute"... my buddy and I started providing the voice-overs...

We weren't 100%... but close enough for some of the other guys to think it was creepy... (or did they say Geeky...).

Like others, I love the first two, the third left fans of II with a bad taste in their mouths and IV is an improvement but still not as good as the first two. Supposedly, Weaver is up for a fifth if the story is good enough. She wants to go back to the Aliens' home planet and get more into their origin.

For years, I though II was better than I, but now I'm back to the first being the best. It's a much more compact story with more left to the imagination than II. And boy, has it aged well. Lucas has to keep fiddling with "Star Wars" to keep the look fresh but "Alien" still looks great with no modification.

For those who like the characters of Aliens and are also into vampire flicks, check out Kathryn Bigelow's "Near Dark", which was made right after "Aliens" with Paxton, Henriksen and Goldstein.

I saw Aliens in an honest-to-goodness theater this past summer -- at the Arclight in Hollywood, no less. (Local movie buffs know that the theaters at the Arclight are as good as they come.) Unfortunately, they seemed to have used an original print instead of one run from the master used to make the DVD. The sound was mono only and the image was not up to 2005 standards. It was still great to see it in a theater again, though. :-)

I don't see why every Alien movie has to have Ripley in it (I don't count AvP which was a crappy gimmicky movie like Freddy vs. Jason).

They should come up with a good original story that moves the Alien movies forward.

True, every Alien movie doesn't have to have Lt. Rippley in it. Still, I believe she plays an important relation to the story and the creatures themselves. Especially now that she's part alien and part human (which sequel was it?). They should develop a story based on that plot and make a suspenseful one like the first one instead of an action film like the second one.

NosX,
I love the ArcLight, and go there often as I can, but the print they had of Aliens was really bad, I don't know why they used that print, and no stereo, that was crap.
I originally saw it at the Pacific Cinerama Dome in 1986.

Bad is correct, "Jenette Goldstein", who played Vasquez couldn't even shoot a gun, for the filming where she had to shoot one of the Aliens with a handgun, she couldn't stop flinching, they had to have Gale Anne Hurd do the shoot.

Watch for the numerous references to Robert A. Heinlein's book, Starship Troopers, required reading for the space marines.

Aliens is my favorite scary film.

Ripley: I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Don't know or care about the actress; the director did wonders to make the character be one bad-ass Marine.

Arc Light refers to the Vietnam War operations using B-52 bombers to blow stuff up. Depending on your point of view, it demoralized the enemy or it killed thousands of communist sympathizing trees.

When the alien popped out of the chest in sick bay, that was real shock and fear. the director never told the actors what the scene was really about, and the really freaked.

Cinema verite at its best.
