My wife is up in Tokyo for a doctor's appointment and supposed to come home by bullet train tonight. I'm sure that the trains are delayed and the schedule is a mess. Most flights at the moment are cancelled or delayed.

Sitting at NRT now in a lounge--flight delayed by at least four hours, and I think they're being optimistic about four hours...

Man, I've spent too many long hours at NRT too many times. Delta lounges are pretty nice though. Good luck.

Thanks, Drew. Unfortunately can't get to the Delta or JAL lounge--we're stuck pre-security, so am at the Priority Pass lounge--only one free beer :-(

My wife is on a shinkansen now returning from Tokyo to Osaka. They stopped her train and the power went off. But, not because of the storm. A kodama in front of them has a strange unaccompanied package on board, so they need to remove it and sweep that train before restarting. Great day to travel!

Traveled on the Shinkansen a few years ago-a good idea for the US. What is a kodama?
Rudie-we're back to average here in MI. Already there are reports of a 20-30% crop loss-apples, cherries, etc., as we've had some frosts after the fruit trees all bloomed. Nothing terribly cold but cold enough to cause some issues. 39ºF right now.

Sorry to hear about the crop damage DP . . . the weather patterns these daze are

Kodama is the older style shinkansen. It stops at every station. The Nozomi, for example, only stops at a few stations, so is much faster.
