Surging hormones, jealous friends, deceit and sabotage at every turn, witches, warlocks, demons, kings and queens, heroes and villains, tragedy, triumph through great valor and sacrifice, epic poetry and stories for the ages.

Things were a little more quiet and laid back on the second go-round.

She was a year younger and one of the most popular girls in her high school class. i got to paint a Parisian scene—complete with Eiffel Tower—no cliché left out—on her bedroom wall. And one day when she wasn't home I sat on her bed talking to her mom about my art.
In retrospect, I probably should have hit on her mother instead.

My first crush was in Pre-K, she swore she'd love me forever...she got knocked up at 15 (not by me!)
Had another crush in junior high with Mary Jane, and her twin Mary Isabel...they went to a different high school.

I fell hard in love in my Junior Year, finally nailed her after graduation! She kept coming back to me every summer, til she got married, then called me back after her divorce. So many good times with her! I hear she's happy with her second husband, I was just one of the "Boys of Summer", not the serious one.

First date and crush, recently re-connected thru Facebook, talked on the phone for an hour. We still have common friends. Funny as ever, been married twice, 2 kids, lived in New York and California. Our common link was music. Took me to see Dr. John when I was 13.

My first love was a hippy. I never quite got over her, but I'm certainlyy better off without her. Everytime that I hear this song I thing of what my life with her would have been like. I still talk to her occasionally via Facebook. She's like a Gypsy roaming the country always looking for a train to wreck.

...It was the summer of love and I thank the stars above
Because the women took the lovin' over me
And just to gain her trust, I bought a microbus
Because I sold off my personal property
A tight tie-dyed dress, she was a psychedelic mess
We toured to the north, south, east and west
We sold some mushroom tea,
We sold some ecstasy,
We sold nitrous, opium, acid, heroin and PCP
Now I hear the police coming after me
Yes, now I hear the police coming after me
The one scarlet with the flowers in her hair,
She's got the police coming after me

Well there ain't nothing wrong with the way she moves
All scarlet begonias and a touch of the blues
And there ain't nothin wrong with the love that's in her eyes
I had to learn the hard way just to let her pass by.
...let her pass by.

I was 14, she was 13 (we were a few months apart in age). It was summer in Brittany, France, and my cousin introduced us because "We both wore glasses". Veronique.... all brilliant smile and soft hands and soft brown hair. My French wasn't perfect, and she had no English. She worked at the Charcuterie in town, and I would ride my bicycle down the hill from my Aunt's home with my rucksack and a light blanket. I'd shop in town, pick up a bottle of Limonade, a baguette, some pate and fromage. And when she got off work we would ride our bicycles to 'our spot', a grove of trees next to a small, clear stream. We would picnic, and talk, and hold hands. And kiss on the cheeks. We tried that kiss on the mouth thing, and it was pretty good. We did, however, agree that the whole tongue in the mouth thing was 'etrange'.

I met her parents.. her father was the chief of police in town. He frowned at my stumbling French, but her mother smiled broadly, recognizing a classic Summer Puppy Love, and a lanky American boy who looked at lot like the soldiers that had cleared the Germans from her town when she was a little girl.

And when I had to leave at the end of summer, I said 'Au Revoir', but never did see her again. My cousin told me years later that she married well, and is very happy with three wonderful children. Quite possibly they have grandchildren by now.

There were other girls, and emotions ranging from affection to lust to love. But then I met the girl who became my wife, and realized that every emotion I had felt before then was a shadow of the real thing. It's been almost 32 years since I met her, and I still feel the same way every day.

While some loves may hold your heart, true love fills it, captures it, and never releases it.

First love was Ruth.. 1st grade. We went to different schools a few years later and I didn't see her again until high school. She dropped out in her sophomore year due to pregnancy (it was the 70's, pregnant girls did not stay in school).

First relationship was in sixth grade, that was Jenny.. and her sister Julie. Twins and they shared! wink smiley

We dated for about a year (or at least dated in the sense that I had a bike and could ride 5-6 miles to wherever she might be).

Secret love? That would be Sandy in high school. I had a serious crush on her but she was already dating someone (ironically he had the same first name as me). We were good friends, but it never went any further. She became a federal agent after a stint in the military.

Best love - no need to look further than my wife. We met in August 1984; we were both seniors except I was a college senior and she was a high school senior. We got married in August 1985 after just one year together. It hasn't always been easy and there have been some serious health issues along the way, but I still love her dearly

Thanks for giving me some happy memories this afternoon.
