Benitez has been just okay for the Giants. He had that monster year in 2004, but has been plagued by injury since coming to San Francisco.

The Giants chances in the division have improved with the acquisition of Shea Hillenbrand to fill the gaping hole at first base. They had to give up the live young arm of Jeremy Accardo to get him, but I don't think Accardo is going to turn into the second coming of Joe Nathan or anything.

Detroit is still the best team in baseball by a wide margin. WTH!?

keep in mind that Benitez had not given up a run in July...

however, the guy that hit that home run had a grand total of zero this year and had just been called up from the minors. Makes you really appreciate Rob Nen when he was around....game was over.

I'm attending 3 giants games vs. Nationals in D.C. then one in pittsburgh. Should be great!
