5 Unexpected Downsides of High Intelligence

You know that phrase, "Ignorance is bliss"? There's a reason it's stuck around all these years. Because having the upper hand in intelligence might give you an advantage in some areas, like crossword puzzle solving and quantum physics-ing, but it also might just screw up your life forever.

#5 tends to walk hand in hand with the poor social skills - there are certainly exceptions
#4

more often, " I've pencilled in 10:35 -11:05" - snooze and you lose.
#3 Knowing what you need/want to hear ....
#2 unfortunately that's often true
#1 see #2 although there always seem to be a few cells attached to the guard rails, maybe just tenuously, but tethered

You would be shocked to know just how frequently I contemplate this very thing.

From the article:

The problem with being the smartest guy in the room is that you usually know you're the smartest guy in the room.

Oh so true.

You can only be a night owl if your lifestyle and occupation allow it. I've been a night person for as long as I can remember, but since changing occupations, I can't be one anymore. I'll probably backslide when I retire, but for now, I find a lot to enjoy about being out and about in the early morning. During the hotter parts of the summer, the best part of the day tends to be over by 9 AM, so being out the door at 6 or 7 is very worthwhile.

Let me get this right.

I'm supposed to be looking to Cracked magazine for the latest and greatest in social theory regarding the benefits and pitfalls of high intelligence.

Cracked magazine.

Okay. Got it.

Interesting article, if nothing else.

A link at the bottom of the page also led to this gem. Again, a fun read.

That is an Apple Extended Keyboard II - superior to almost any keyboard every made. It is the exact same keyboard I have used every day since 1993 and is another hallmark of a higher intellect. grinning smiley
