LOL, I was not into the market... I was curious if he was comparing the current (the NEW iPad, aka iPad 3) refurbished at $449 with previous generation, iPad 2 new at 399.

if someone paid $449 for a refubished iPad 2, then too bad for them sad smiley

New iPad 2 is $399. Refurb new iPad (aka iPad 3) is $449 via Apple. New new iPad (aka iPad 3) is $499.

If you have a Meijer store nearby, they currently have them all on sale for $40 under list which puts the new ones just ten bucks more than the refurbs.

Saw an open box iPad 2 from Target a little more than a month ago for $290ish. Plus tax of course. 16GB black. As mentioned in another thread, I went with the open box iPad 3. Both were great deals and it took me a bit to decide between which model to buy. Serious thought for a "spur of the moment" purchase, like thirty minutes in the store walking around thinking about it, perhaps even 45 minutes. I literally finished shopping and came back to get it.

iPads are a wee bit overpriced for my tastes, but there are deals to be had with a bit of luck and/or perseverance Macmall has some pretty nice deals on a couple different iPad 2 Verizon 3G models. $430 for 32GB and $470 for 64GB. Not bad for 3G models. No LTE, no high density display, but kind of nice if your iPad is your main mobile device and you need mobile data.

Hard to get excited about the Apple refurb prices in comparison to the other deals. The refurb first gen iPads are particularly laughable.
