I've gone through 3 of the Apple bumper cases on my iPhone 4S. Every single one has cracked at the bottom area in the middle of the dock connector. I've seen many other people with this same cracking at the bottom. It is obviously the weak point of the case. At $30 I'm loathe to buy another one, just to have it break in 4 months.

Does any other company make a bumper case for the iPhone 4s in black that holds up better? I do like the rubber coating on the Apple case, I do not want a hard plastic or as smooth plastic case. Needs to be grippy so the phone won't slide around.

I'd go back to no case, but the phone almost levitates on hard surfaces and slides around too much without a case.

While I don't have an alternative, the bumper has a 1 year warranty. You should be able to go to an Apple Store and get it swapped out for a new one.

I've been using an Incipio Sicrylic case for quite a while. I really like it.
Found it online for less than $30.

2 part case. One part silicone and one part hard (but not slippery) acrylic.

Wife has one now too.
