Holy Mackeral...Subway rant
Posted by: bazookaman

Wife just returned from Subway with dinner. She got my ailing daughter a subway meal and figured she'd get her a cookie to cheer her up. The girl at the register said "Oh no. This is a HEALTHY meal. It comes with fruit. You CANNOT get a cookie." Then when my wife ordered Cheetos, the lady responded with "Are those for her or for you???". My wife was just too stunned to even reply. WTF!

She needs to go post that on the Subway Facebook page and see what happens.

STILL don't believe we're at the dawn of the "Nanny State", anyone?

This is just full on "Rude State".

Edit: Reminds me of that Jack Nicholson scene in Five Easy Pieces with the waitress and the chicken salad sandwich.

Every Subway is independently owned and operated. You should talk to the owner of that restaurant. If he has the same attitude then go talk to the franchise manager at Subway corporate.

Excellent course of action...

So is Zoidbergs idea...

Last I checked, Subway was a privately owned business that is free to serve their customers as they see fit.

I would be interested if you could point to some state/federal regulation involved here that supports the "nanny state" view.

This is most likely a case of a cashier that doesn't understand how to or is too lazy to) un-bundle the combo meals.

I think questioning the Cheetos purchase rules this out.

I got on the subway with my bike the other night . . . I always get on the car with the conductor late at night b/c homeless people tend to not take their shoes off and light up a smoke in that one. Barely anyone on the train... I bungeed my bike in the usual place, but somehow ended up sitting across from it. After a while I became aware the conductor was yelling at me... I unplugged an earbud and figured out he was trying to tell me I was "dominating the whole end of the car." I smiled and thanked him and took the seat closer to the bike.
Occasionally I encouter drivers/conductors who take responsibility for managing their workspace, and are willing to speak up and deal with behaviors they don't feel are appropriate... and while occasionally they may be totally fracked I still find it reassuring that there are a few left who aren't completely apathetic and/or disgruntled enough to always look the other way.
I think this Subway employee rocks. People who are willing to stick their neck out for the welfare of others are what keeps this country from going completely down the tubes, and the lack thereof is responsible for a large percentage of the problems we face (first and foremost being crime and gang violence.).

I think he was just ranting about some peculiar service, not trying to gather the villagers. To me, THAT would be nuts.

Have you considered eating real sandwiches? You know, from a shop that actually owns a meat slicer?

You need something sweet to balance the 6700mg of sodium in the sandwich

Looks like my 12" Subway of choice comes in at 1620mg of Sodium but I never eat more than half of it
per meal but still that's pretty high.

I've come to realize that some people live in places where the only food options are chains. But, yeah, I would have thought the same.

Why slice the meat there when they can avoid workman's comp claims by ordering pre-sliced?
