mkv automatic conversion

Wish #1: Is there a utility that can watch a folder for new mkv files and re-save them as m4v files in another directory? Example: mkv file is downloaded to "downloads" folder and automatically re-saved to the m4v container in the iTunes "automatically add to iTunes" folder.

Wish #2: automatically attempt metadata entry

Wish #3: in looking at the apple support forums it appears the "automatically add to iTunes" folder is broken. Does anyone know of a fix?

Shouldn't Automator be able to do that?

Speedy, I have been googling all morning and as indicated I have been reading the apple support forum. If you have something helpful to add to the thread then by all means do so.

Not sure about #3, but iVI Pro apparently will do #1 and #2. I use it for conversion and adding metadata but haven't used its automated process.

From the website linked above:

Automate Your Video Conversion
iVI can monitor folders for new video files and add show information, convert and import into iTunes automatically so your video is ready when you are.

For $10, it is a great program. For DVDs, it has become my way for my ripping and adding metadata duties in lieu of Handbrake. If I want to convert a Blu-ray, then I use makemkv first and then drop the resulting mkv file onto iVI Pro and let it do it's thing.

If you do the automatic folder monitoring, I would be interested in how it does.

Good luck!

EDIT - bhaveshp beat me to it!

Thanks everyone, sounds like a good program. I'll be looking at it tonight.

I must have done something wrong. I used iVI to change an MKV to MP4 and it did not work at all. Well. That's not true. it worked but it basically re-encoded the whole thing resulting in the whole copy of a copy problem with all sorts of craptastic artifacts. I could not find how to just swap containers.
