Photostream question
Posted by: iaJim

I got a new iPhone last week, and only about 50 of the hundreds of photos I have in my Photostream show up on it. Any suggestions on getting them all on there? They still show up on iPhoto.

The iCloud photo stream only keeps the last 30 days of photos. After that they'll continue to be saved to any device you've saved them to, but if you don't specifically grab them from the stream and save them in iPhoto, they'll exist only on the device you originally captured them.

This is why the photo stream is not considered a "backup" and is just a convenience.

Good point, but the question remains: is there a way to move older photos from the 'Camera Roll' on the iPhone into Photo Stream?

Yes--easiest it to move them to photo stream in iPhoto on the Mac--but on your phone--go to the individual photo or album. Click edit and then select the photo(s) the "Share to Photo Stream
