Sirius Radio cancellation RANT

Sold the car and we had Sirius Radio setup. The new car came with 12 months Sirius service included. So I call today to cancel the old account.

OMG they we're trying every stupid thing in the book.

Well, what if we give you a free month? I'm like what? The car is gone, I don't own it anymore.

Ok, let me transfer you.

"Why do you want to cancel? Sold the vehicle. "Ok, why not transfer your service to your new car? Because the new car comes with 12 months of service already included.

Oh, we'll let me transfer you to the cancellation dept.

??? Again?

Ok, "Do you know we have devices that let you receive Sirius at home? I can send you out a home Sirius tuner for $99 and give you six month of service for free.

NO, NO, I DON'T WANT ANYTHING, CANCEL MY SERVICE. I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANY MORE SALES PITCHES, I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING COME FROM YOUR MOUTH. DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME? Wait, don't answer. Just cancel my service

It was pretty lame when they offered a free online 12 month trial and cancelled it about a week later.

If I was you I'd cancel the 12 months that came with the new car just to spite them.

You're doing it wrong...

Learned from the AOL days...

Call up and say, "I want to cancel my service." When they say, "we can offer you xyz" you say nothing at all - they didn't ask a question. When they say, "would you like that?" you say, "No, I want to cancel my service." When they ask you why - you say, "that's none of your business - I want to cancel my account."

If the next words out of their mouth is something other than, "Ok - I'm cancelling your account", you interrupt and say, "Are you refusing to cancel my service? I called to have my service cancelled."

DO NOT get drawn into ANY discussion. Don't answer any questions.

Throughout the entire call, you should be saying NOTHING, but...

I want to cancel my service or Are you refusing to cancel my service

nothing else is required...

I let the free service expire two years ago and I still get calls and mail.

When the first customer no-service rep answers say "This conversation is being recorded to ensure accuracy and may be published on YouTube".

Comedy Central: Best news channel that isn't a news channel.

Fox News: Best comedy channel that isn't a comedy channel.

I spent too much time this weekend trying to get the free 2 week trial started for my car (while driving to FL). After about 10 calls, trying unsuccessfully online, and using their automated service, one rep finally just activated the radio and gave me a free month instead of the two week promotion. Evidently, my 2012 Volvo radio is not eligible.

Of course, I have to now call in 30 days to cancel. Not looking forward to that. I've found that they gave the worst customer service/tech support of any company I've dealt with in a long time. When I got home, I tried to get out other car activated for the free trial. Same thing as with the Volvo when I tried to do it online or via automated phone call. I'm simply not going to bother.

That would be cutting off your nose to spite your face. Why cancel 12 months of free servbice? I love serius in both of our cars, but I never pay the full price. I threaten cancellation and always get 5 - 6 months for around $25. Love it. Vast variety of Music, news, sports with no commercials.

they suck %^#^@#@^%#%$*^%* when trying to disconnect.
I ended up going after them with Amex. That did that trick and brought a refund as well.

Service is free now through the 24th.

Limited channels, but they re-activated our radio, so we'll enjoy it for now.

Yeah, if you want a deal you have to argue with the CSR:

"my children will starve, effendi, but for you this price..."

See my posts about getting this set up for one of our cars this weekend. Almost more trouble than it was worth, but did get a free month (instead of 2 weeks).

+1. If they refuse to cancel the account, simply contact your credit card company and inform them that you tried to cancel through Sirius, but they refused to cooperate.

It is what it is.
