Suggestions for selling my 4S?

I'm finally succumbing to the iPhone 5, and would like to sell my 4S. It's got 64GB of RAM, and over a year of AppleCare. It's not pristine, but in excellent condition for having been used every day.

Can someone suggest the best venue in which to sell it? And to see what the going rate for one might be these days?

It's an ATT model, and I'd just as soon not go through the headache of unlocking it.

Thanks!

Lots of suggestions in this article.

Gazelle is a little over $200 right now for your model. That's probably what most places will buy it for.

radio consumer advocate Clark Howard has been telling folks about EcoATM. i don't think he's used it; just letting listeners know it's an option.

If you have not upgraded the system to iOS 6, it's very easy to jailbreak/unlock it. Do a search for Absinthe. You can then list/sell it on eBay and get much more than Gazelle, Amazon, Best Buy or other companies that will buy it from you.

We sold our 4 back to AT&T on launch day. They gave us $156 and Gazelle was only 168 at the time. No shipping or hassle. Don't know what they go for today.

If it is AT&T you can unlock it for better sales price.

Also, since you have AppleCare, remind the buyer, and yourself, that it can be replaced as new for $50 deductible.

they scan your Driver's License and your fingerprint. While I have nothing to hide, I don't want this information in some database of some company. Even States like South Carolina have their records hacked and personal info exposed, I don't feel secure handing over my DL and fingerprint to some company.

We unlocked my mom's 16GB iPhone 4 via the AT&T online form. It was running some flavor of iOS 4.

We sold it for $380 shipped on eBay to someone in Russia (it was a BIN type listing for $330 + $50 shipping). We got $300 in hand after it was all said and done.

I should add it was in mint condition (having spent its whole life in a case) indistinguishable from new, and all the accessories that it came with (which were never used) as well as the original box which was in pristine condition, were included.

True, but you need your Driver's License (or State-issued ID) if you sold at a pawn shop, etc. The fingerprint is not needed by such a place, but any bank can require it.

This outfit, based on how their system works, may be operating similar to a bank (e.g. ATM w/cash dispensing), so the law likely dictates they need (or strongly requires) the extra identification.

Obviously, it is a person's choice to use or not use these systems or stores if ID protection is a major issue.

It would be a shame if something were to happen to it, wouldn't it?

AT&T will unlock it for you?

AT&T will only unlock if you have satisfied your commitment.

Otherwise this source mentioned here previously will do it for under $10, no shipping.
