To make it through the season with as little awareness of the religious holiday as possible.

I'd like to have a nice amount of work, but not so much that I'm nearly out of my mind from fatigue by the time the holidaze are over.

A bigger paycheck, better work-hours, more vacation days and a SO who inspires me and shares some of life's burdens instead of taking all of my time and money and going psycho at the slightest bump in the relationship.

A wise psychologist I encountered on one of my fieldworks who had a specialty in family counseling told me something that's always stuck with me, as it has a resounding ring of truth:
"We're attracted to others at our own level of mental health."

Nah.

Its just hard to find a single woman in my age bracket who hasn't been damaged by bad relationships.

I'm looking for stability and they're looking for reasons not to be happy.

Well, it's very charitable for you to be willing to be the "well" one in the relationship. Hope you find someone better soon.

Wow, am I the only one who still wants an iPad?

I am happy actually - especially at Christmas time. So much to be thankful for, and to know who to thank.

For my younger son to get a new job. His last one ended abruptly when a client of the company got a new VP who wanted to "go in a new direction". He was just short of being hired full time and also just short of being eligible for unemployment as well.

I don't really want anything. I've reached the age where I have the maturity to realize that material things aren't really important and more of them doesn't make me happier. I'd like to be able to worry less about bills and would like to travel more, but that's about it.

He who dies with the most toys doesn't "win."

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

I hope this isn't considered political.

I want for Our Elected Congress to get off their butts and work together.

For Example: The Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) Exemption.
Unless Congress extends the AMT exemption patch there will be millions of shocked people paying the high Alternative Minimum Taxes in 2012.

AMT Exemption for tax year 2010
Single: $47,450
Married Filing Joint: $72,450

AMT Exemption for tax year 2011
Single: $48,450
Married Filing Joint: $74,450

AMT Exemption for tax year 2012
Single: $33,750
Married Filing Joint: $45,000

That's a big change ...

Yeah, I've started look at and working on this year's taxes.

Birthday/Christmas present to myself. First smartphone ever, still on flip phone.

I miss these guys...

Wow. Most ppl put their "genie make-a-wish list" and not an item for christmas.

My advice for chakravartin is to take (or audit) college courses. Older returning students abound and they have ideas and goals and think at least something of themselves. Good SO hunting there. ALSO trying something meaningful like volunteering at a food bank, giving time to habitat for humanity or the local library or hospital will put you in contact with people who have some time and care about the world around them -and are naturally supportive of their causes. But keep in mind, anything you join/attend takes six months to feel comfortable and you have to be there reliably at first to get to know the people in any real way. Good luck.
