I sold a refurbished Mac (factory refurbished from Apple, I never opened it, change dy mind) and got this email from buyer. I would like to know if in general Apple refurbished items have this sticker or not. Here is what he said

All of my refurbs have been sealed as the new ones. The only difference I've ever seen was the color of the box. Brown, not white.

thanks, I don't know what to say. He kept asking questions about the condition of the item before purchase, now he says the item was not sealed. Could be a prelude to start some dispute...

I usually block people on ebay who ask multiple questions about an item. They are always a PITA. I'd rather not sell it than have to deal with someone who is anal retentive. I put in a very good description of the item and it's condition. If they want to nit pick they should buy in person.

If the outer container was sealed, then it was as it came from Apple. Which is how you advertised it.

The 17" MBP I bought as a "Refurb" back in June came in a plain white box. I don't remember it there was a seal inside the box though.

Yes, always sealed just like a new product.

All Apple refurb products are basically 'brand new' but in a non-retail (usually brown) box. All screen protectors, plastic wrapping, etc. that a new product has - the refurb also has it. I would dare say that you would never be able to tell the difference in packing, presentation, or product appearance/'used' except for the non-retail box.

The only way I could tell my MDD G4 was a refurb was the beige box and a few faint scratches around the headphone jack on the front panel. My refurb MBP was in a white box, but looked brand new as well.

My late 2006 iMac was definitely not in "new" condition-- when I cracked it to swap the hard drive I discovered that all the foil tape had been peeled from the LCD.

Most of mine looked essentially brand new, but I did have a Titanium PowerBook G4 refurb that looked like it was handled by someone with dirty wet hands. I was eventually able to get the case cleaned up and kept it, functionally it was fine.

You did what most people wouldn't do (even with a 2006 iMac): open up the case to check out the inside.

So quality control wasn't there on that one and they didn't replace the foil, etc. after possibly changing out some components during the refurb process.

I still stand by my statement.
