Backup software - is the deal on Retrospect at DM a good price

DM has a price of $10 on what appears to be Retrospect Express v.6.0.204.

I'm currently running 10.4.x and my backup solution has been spotty at best and I'd like to get a little more serious about it.

I have only one Mac, plenty of external hard drive space and enclosures.

I'd like the simplest solution that isn't excessively expensive.

Is Retrospect Express what I need, should I stick to CCC and be more vigilant about it, or is SuperDuper a better option, or is there an even better option I don't know about?

Thanks for ALL th comments I'm sure I'll (hopefully) get including the ones lambasting me for not backing up until now!

if you're just looking to back up your important docs and files.
iBackup.

if you're looking to b.u. you're whole install, though I can't see a reason, SuperDuper.

What if the hokey pokey really is what it’s all about?

I'd say $10 is pretty darned good, unless you're in the market for another external drive that might come bundled with Retrospect Express.

Retrospect Express is an OEM-only product and will only back up your single computer, but should do the job pretty well for you.

The latest version of Retrospect is 6.1.126. Not sure if the unified installer will accept a Retrospect Express license, but you can try downloading it, installing it, and plugging in your purchased Retrospect Express 6.0 license number and it ought to work.

Retrospect Express is true incremental, automated backup, so it's not directly comparable to SuperDuper! or CCC. What did they say in the WWDC keynote about Time Machine, that only 6% of polled Mac users use an automated backup system? Come on and join the 6% already!

How big is your internal hard drive, and how big are your externals? I prefer to set up rotating backups with at least two alternating sets (two disks to start, though each set can have additional disks appended to it).
