Should I install Flash?
Posted by: MacJeepster

I am almost done moving into my new Macbook Pro at work. (2.3 GHz i7 w/4GB RAM).
It appears Apple made good on their threat to not include Flash.
I've been getting along fine w/out Flash on my iPad; should I resist the temptation to install it on the 'Book?
I love how zippy this is, I wouldn't want to slow it down.

Try it for a few days and see. That is what we did with a MacBook Air I got for my daughter last year. We wound up installing Flash though.

You could just download Chrome for flash. The thinking is since it's baked into Chrome you won't gum up your whole system and once you quit Chrome, it's gone until (if) you need it again.

This is what I'm doing. I tried the ClicktoFlash software but, Safari frequently doesn't seem to like that.

Bingo! There's your answer.

For the sites that balk at supplying HTML5 video to a non-mobile system, just turn on Safari's Develop menu. Then you can change the User Agent to iPad. The page will reload and in most cases, you'll get the video.

In fact, I've made a hot-key for that menu item -- shift-command-v
