NPR had a bit on it. Good luck to 'em. We just ignore unrecognized caller ID numbers.

There has to be some way to send a tone back down the line that would disable/sabotage/destroy an autodialer. Get Hollywood to work on it. They'll figure it out.

Make it illegal for politicians to call during election time

1. Have the phone companies implement the technology used for phone traces and integrate it into caller ID. When you get a robo-call, with the push of a button, the ACTUAL location of the caller is transmitted to the local law enforcement.

2. Law enforcement arrests Robo-callers.

3. Courts sentence Robo-callers to death and organ harvesting.


After 4-5 executions and dismemberments are televised, problem solves itself.

Sure, there are some legal and practical considerations to work out... but it's the beginning of an idea, anyway.

Many problems could (should?) be solved with such a solution.
