Nothing like having your boss standing over your shoulder...

...as your PC takes 10 minutes to switch users. YES!!!!

New computer in the works. Sure it'll be another Dell. But it'll probably be one of their work station class laptops with a ton of RAM.

Edit: And on that same note. Has anyone ever launched an app that took SO long to launch that you forgot about it and were surprised when it popped up as you were doing something else? That's happened twice this AM. So sad.

We had an issue with application delay on a couple of old Mac Pros at work... I told the users to keep a log of how long they were sitting 'twiddling their thumbs' each day.

After three days their boss came over. They showed him their notebooks. He ordered more RAM that day. No more questions asked. DONE.

Sounds like my work computer. I think it's got 1 GB. Thankfully not every day, but some days windows take forever to redraw when you move them.

At my other job the PCs are all fairly new and smokin' fast.

That's the bad thing. This Dell is probably a year old maybe. It's got 4gb of RAM. It's an i7. CS5 just eats it's lunch.

It's all the background processes running. Like viruses and the software to keep them in check.

Yes. But as is normal, I would be the ONLY one with a Mac. So it's just easier (for them) if I'm on a PC as well since we access a lot of Winders only junk.

Nice that the boss witnessed it in person and felt the pain. Its the kind of thing that just doest click when you explain it..."yeah, but I have to wait minutes....*minutes* I tell you!"

Yes, wasting 10 minutes of your time isn't a high priority issue, but when it's wasting 10 minutes of the boss's time, then it's a big problem.
