Anyone use a FitBit?

My office is selling these for $50 (regularly priced $100). They are similar to the Nike Fuelband and measure your activity, sleep, etc. Seems like an interesting idea, but I'm not sure how truly useful it is vs. being this week's gimmick.

I've got one (the Fitbit Ultra) and love it. I find that it actually tracking your activity levels kind of spurs me on to be more active: What? Only 4000 steps today?!? Cmon pooch, we're going for a walk. Several folks in my family have one and we get kind of competitive to see who tallies more steps each week.

Never heard of it before, but it sounds cool. For $50, i'd be very tempted. For $99, I have to think about it. I don't think i woukd enjoy what it would tell me about my quality of sleep, though.

I like it, a good reindeer to move more. And I love the stairs feature.

Want to buy a FitBit for $20? I found it last month, posted notices +on Craigslist lost & found, but no one claimed it. As new, working fine. Does not have the USB Bluetooth stick (which can be replaced by a $10 generic).
It's the Zip model, in blue, as seen here:

My wife and I each have the Fitbit Ultra. We use them to gauge our activity level and motivate us to move. We are "friends" via the web interface and compete for steps. We are generally active people but not die-hard runners/walkers. The Fitbit has been beneficial to get us move a bit more.

Can you get us all that $50 deal?

I have one, but I don't pay a lot of attention to it. I think I'd care more if I had the new one that links to my phone instead of having to sync to my wifes windows desktop at night. It's wireless but I'm not leaving the dongle plugged into my macbook all the time. The new ones use bluetooth 4.0 to sync all day.

Funny you should ask. I actually inquired about a maximum purchase and was told it is 2 right now until they gauge the demand. They bought a small truckload of them, evidently.

It had to be said.

That said, I find this thing fascinating. Knowing little about it, I'd jump on one for $50.

It seems to offer a lot of potential even at $100, but that's a tad too pricey for me, at the moment.

You could probably resell it at a profit if you decided you didn't like it.

But me, I'd jump on it for $50.
