Well, if you can't invoice him how in the world would you be able to ship the machine?

I don't understand.

He was the high bidder and you haven't shipped yet?

Maybe he just didn't want to give ebay his address. Thats reasonable.

Um, he has paid for the machine & shipping & insurance ?

No $$ means no shipment, not even C.O.D.

I went to school with Mr. Daddy and I can personally vouch for him...so go ahead and send it...

How long has it been since the auction closed? If he sends you real money then you send him a real computer. I don't think I would be suspecting a scam yet, especially with 60 positives. When scammers jack an account they usually sell fake/non-existent goods to get money, not the other way around. I didn't have any problem getting my listing fees back on a non-paying bidder.

nope. he has not paid (yet)!

im expecting some foreign cashier check with twice the amount
shown and he will be asking for the rest back from my own
personal stash...

I got his address when I sent an email invoice..
I hope he's legit, but im skeptical.....

yes i was not planning to ship until payment is received and
address is verified... im in holding pattern now..

anyone had experience going through disputes of
a non-payer in Ebay?

edit: thanks Tats for the info on listing get-backs from ebay

If the street name doesn't have Peachtree in it, it's not a legitimate Atlanta address.

Go to "advanced search", do "member contact info" and they will email you his address.

If the address listed with eBay is the same bogus address as listed with PayPal, then report him for bad contact info and he will be thrown off eBay, so he can't neg you.

Just forget it, file for credit and relist it. Too many warning signals to risk shipping anything to him.

It only takes a week or less to get your fees back, but you lose initial listing fees.

The insertion fees are credited after a successful relist. Any other listing fees (upgrades) are lost.

Foreign checks are scams. Especially ones that send you extra so that you can "refund" them the difference. Then the bank check bounces and you're out a computer AND extra cash. C'mon, this IS a scam.

Relist. Then wait out the dispute. Don't even bother with this "buyer."

And notify ebay. That foreign check thing stinks like poop.

.. so im out with my gf and her roomie and bf
and i get a ring at about 10pm last night.. its
a long distance number, so i decide to step out
of the bar and take it....

its Mr. Smack Daddy!!

he decides to call me.. which is a little weird.. and
explains his fake address because he doesnt like to
post his real address.. I said I dont care as along
as i get my money, you can have me send the package
anywhere...

so this good faith call was to calm my reservations
and he sent his real and name and address by email..
i have yet to do some checking on it.. but as long
as the money order clears, im gonna ship it..

(from our short conversation, he sounded earnest and
that he really wanted the computer and had plans
for it.. etc..)

funny thing.. he lives in FLORIDA!
crazy at what people will do to hide their identity...

Oh, really? How is he going to pay you?

Don't send it to an unconfirmed PayPal address or you're asking for it.

Don't fall for it yet. He might be legit, but if you have to ask yourself that then it's probably not.

Like you say, as long as you get the money then who cares, but be careful, lots of scammers out there who make a living doing this kind of thing, and this guy might have another trick up his sleeve. hopefully not.
