Possible major snowstorm for VA midweek.

Got this off WXSouth:

"WxSouth: New GFS is in. No surprises. A Mega-Hit of snowstorm is coming to Virginia, no way around it (unless all models are WAY off). This will go down as a top 5 March Snowstorm in many areas of Virginia. Significant snow extends down to NC as well and up to DC , but the heart and guts of the real McCoy are in Virginia and eastern West Virginia to southern Maryland, Delaware. The GFS also cuts this off at 5 contours at the height of the 5H system. Incredible snowrates coming to the Old Dominion as I've been hinting at for days...
WxSouth is predicting 2" to 3" per hour snowfall rates on the northwest side of the strong upper low at some point in central to eastern Virginia, atleast for a few hours, with ThunderSnow. Snow Max amounts on the ground could come in at 18" for some areas of VA."

Nice to see winter going somewhere other than in my back yard.

Edit: Dang, we have a winter storm warning for tonight until Tuesday morning. 6" to 10" of snow with near blizzard winds. Schools will be closed all week. Because this is spring break week.

As usual, the DC metro region is gonna be too warm for it to stick.

Practically business-as-usual where you can count on imbeciles driving too fast and clogging 395 with their accidents, schools canceling all classes to avoid liability and government workers taking the end of the week off because there's some rule that says the government doesn't have to function in bad weather (except for the post office carriers).

bring it on. Zip 22801 in the Central Shenandoah Valley. though, if it doesn't get much colder than predicted, it won't stick around for long:

Had quite a heavy snow this morning in NW Atlanta. Really came down for the better part of three hours. Not much stuck, though, and what did was gone by the afternoon.

Fairfax County VA here. weather.gov predicts mix of rain/snow for Weds turning to snow Weds evening with temps above freezing. However, Thurs will be 38 so it shouldn't be too bad here.
