But it's been so long, I've forgotten just what you may actually mean by "getting lucky". I had four Jacks, beating out three Aces.
We were playing Martian Poker; and there were still a lot of Jacks and Aces out there...

There's no luck involved as far as I'm concerned. If you want it (and I do), then you just have to do what is necessary to make it happen. If it's not happening, then you don't really want it bad enough.

While I wholeheartedly agree with you in theory, in practice I have found that the universe has a perverse sense of humor and likes to screw with us mere mortals where nookie is concerned. You can be dressed to the nines, look the best you've looked in your adult life, and be flush with cash yet still strike out with known "100% sure thing"s, whereas you can be dressed like a homeless person, look like you haven't seen a mirror in days, and be so broke you have to dig under the couch cushions to scrape up enough change to buy a single package of Top Ramen yet have living Gods (or Goddesses, whichever is your preference) metaphorically fall out of the sky into your lap and immediately begin offering to do things to you that would make Caligula blush.

Getting back to the original question, it's been several years since I last "got lucky".
