Yes, but I don't think the drinking part is of any real significance, other than the odd occasional tossed shot-glass.
It's the smoking, and the cooking. The smoking part is now gone, but I'm sure the damage has been done.
I agree with the decision, even though it comes across as somewhat arrogant. I just hope that the painting stays in the Bay Area.

I hadn't thought about all the smoking to which it must have been exposed. Smoking would certainly leave a film on it; perhaps it will be put into the hands of a good restorer before it goes on sale.
