I just downloaded a game from Steam and it was done by the time I got back from a quick trip to the restroom. eye popping smiley I thought I was only paying for 25 Mbp (~17mbps after Speedboost drops off). Makes me glad I got the DOCSIS 3 MODEM...

In my experience the Comcast speeds have been nicely conservative during off-peak times.

Your neighbors aren't streaming HD Pr0n at this particular moment. Wait until Prime Fap Time.

I was talking to some people recently and it appears this is the new normal for some people.

I don't know if it will eventually roll out to everybody.

But congratulations.

They had recently announced some sort of VOD for everybody, 'catch up on all the shows you want to watch' for the next week. I think they might have unshackeled everybody for the next week to test the network limits.

I saw a Comcast commercial in the past 2 days or so where they were bumping up internet speeds significantly for several of the most popular packages.

Commercials here on the west coast are saying that they have doubled speeds on their two most popular plans.

Semi-rural Arkansas, near Little Rock. Saw the same commercials as others have seen. To be blunt, I've been at 25 to 30 for a while now, so I guess we're not quite there yet.

I had bought a DOCSIS 3 some time back; could never get it to work, though three techs told me it should have. Exchanged for a duplicate of the one I had been renting, and it's worked since.

Great news! We've increased your Internet speed!

Now the download speed on your Performance Internet service is up to 66% faster with speeds up to 25 Mbps and we have more than doubled your upload speeds up to 5 Mbps.

Those were pretty close to the speed test results I was already getting (24 down, 4.5 up), which were the Speed Boost speeds, with long downloads I would drop to 16 mbit/s after several seconds.

Tonight I rebooted my modem for the changes to take effect, this caused a firmware update to the modem (Motorola SB6120), and a slight increase in speed test results (27 down, 5.5 up).

BUT... I tried a long download (the 540 MB 10.8.3 update from Apple's site), and it downloaded at an average of 3MB/sec (24 mbit/sec), so it seems like they've done away with speed boost and it's now always at what was the speed boost speeds.
