Need some help on how to deal with this eBay situation.

About a week ago, I put one of my cell phones up on eBay, and as always indicated that any bidders with feedback under 10, I will nix their bid.

Sure as the rain(which admittedly isn't all that sure), The winning(And only) bidder is a brand new zero feedback person.

His address is confirmed and paypal states I'd be eligible for seller protection and he has paid.

Still, I'm cautious. Advice?

He has paid through PayPal and with their payment protection.... so what's the problem. You ship to his confirmed address. His money is already in your PayPal account. It's not like you had other buyers.

If he has a confirmed address, and you follow eBay shipping rules, re, confirmed address and delivery confirmation, what are you worried about?

You can't be talking about big money if you sold a used cell phone. Be a big brave fellow and keep the money he's already sent you. How sincere do you want him to be???

Yah, I'd say you're safe if he's confirmed. You know you can set up your eBay preferences so that eBay won't even allow someone with that low of feedback to bid on your items? I've got it set so that a bidder has to live in the U.S., have a rating higher than 2, not have any bid retractions in the last two weeks, and probably a few others. It's in the "my ebay" pages somewhere.

I am always surprised at how overly cautious people are with eBay.

You can't block bidders who have a zero rating or better. You CAN block bidders with a net negative rating (-1 or worse).

You also can't block bidders with recent retractions. You CAN block bidders with recent UID strikes.

If I tried to stop everyone under 10 positives I'd might as well not list anything.
Some of my fastest paying customers have Zero feedback.

I do have people these people blocked:

Block buyers who:
Have a feedback score of -1 or lower
Have received 2 Unpaid Item strikes in the last 30 days

All my auctions are setup this way.

Chip,

Did it take you 10 auctions before you became honest?

You all strike a good point.

It'll be in a box by the end of the night.

If you are seeking dispute resolution on eBay , TeamStar has an extremely excellent offer for a free 1 year membership.

They pay payments to you if someone clicks the TeamStar blurb in your auction.

It is very similar to the SquareTrade service.

Just send an email and you get instructions on joining for 1 year for free:

This is a limited time offer aimed at helping others become aware of TeamStar.

There is more information here: [farmerbrownsplowshop.bigstep.com]

TeamStar Provides Free Dispute Resolution, Auto Adding
of Verified Seller Seal to Auctions, and a Beefy Referral Payment
When Someone Clicks Your Auction Seal and Joins.

Best regards,

Theresa

Guy at work is trying to sell three motorcycles on eBay.

Two got hit with Buy It Nows with a zero rating, ebay accounts 1 day old. 1 is a throwaway email address the other is no longer a member (thankfully - that speeds up the fee refund process).

I think he would be happy to ban bidders with a 0 rating.

I see nothing wrong with chip's requirements.
I usually say "low feedback buyers must e-mail me prior to bidding".
Buyers who can't read get cancelled and blocked.
In this case the damage is done and it's not a terribly high monetary risk.

I was recently talking to someone who was very frustrated about selling a PC laptop on eBay and having three auction attempts in a row won by foreign scammers regardless of what he put in the listing.
