I was in the process of closing out a Mutual Fund and buying Apple when Katrina hit. Lost contact with my broker/agent and the deal never went through. Dangit.

Apple is positioning itself to be a software company. I'm not saying exclusively a software company (it ain't always one or the other) but I see them (read: Steve) moving into the golden opportunity of "revenge" of sorts for Windows 1.0 -- that is, OS X into the Intel world and cutting into its market share, bit by bit.

Stranger things have happened. Old rants & comments;

"getting rid of floppies? they're crazy!"

"the iMac is cute but people don't care what their computer looks like"

"Apple making an MP3 player? who cares, there's tons of MP3 players -- they won't make a dent"

"people don't care about desktop publishing; they don't know what a font is and they don't care"

"Apple on Intel? It'll never happen"

(I said that last one)

I still say that I would sell some covered options, just to hedge my bet a bit. But then again, I wasn't smart enough to by it at $15, so what do I know.

I had the opp to get in at $12.95 a share, *before* the split, and was advised not to (by my Dad). Biggest mistake ever. (That and not moving from N.O. last Spring.)

I would count not buying a @#$%& load of AAPL at $12.95 as probably a bigger mistake than not moving...

But what do I know, I live in an earthquake zone and have lots of heavy books on shelves directly above my bed... smiling smiley

I've been thinking for a while that "Apple can't possibly go TOO much higher"... so I haven't bought.

I finally said screw it and bought a bit more... because I've been wrong since about $50.

I got in at $14, sold at $30. Pre-split. Grr. But at least I bought back in at $50.

mick e bought back in at $60. That's looking like an okay move. (knocks on head)

I got in at $26 (after split and subsequent decline several years ago post-iMac, pre-iPod), sold it a few years later at a loss (needed the tax deduction). Oh well. Apple is the main holding of one of my mutual funds that I bought with my sold Apple shares.

Almost time to sell...a moment ago I saw it at 74.98. I made a note to myself I'd sell at $75 or 12.15...but did not specify which! Dang. What to do, what to do...

Bought a wee bit at 15 or so years back, bought a lot at 50 several weeks back. I thought I got in late to the party at 50. Thought maybe I'd be LUCKY if it hit 60. This is amazing.

If it hits $100, I'll sell winking smiley

I, too have been hesitant to buy more as I keep telling myself yeah it may go up a couple of bucks more but what's a couple of bucks when it cost me $75 to get one. Horrible logic, I know but....

Just two months ago before the last quarter the stock was at $49 and I had committed myself to buy 300 shares that day (it was the day before a product announcement as well). It has been years since I have bought stock and I didn't have an account open anywhere and I had to do some research. I got busy at work and never bought the shares. Looking at it today I see that I could have made over $7,800 in the last two months (assuming I didn't get nervous and sell). Now I'm afraid to buy since it is already so high.

mick e was afraid it was too high when he bought at $60, but he did it anyway. Then the whole TV show downloading thing took off and the rest is history. mick e thinks there is more good shtuff on the way, and won't be dumping shares any time soon.
