Fighting iTunes AGAIN

Tried to sync some videos from my daughters computer to her iphone4 today. Videos synced great but her music disappeared. Clicked the box to sync music and...the videos disappeared. Went back and forth several times. Updated iTunes. Restarted iPhone. Tried to backup but it just blinked, did nothing, and didn't even bother with an error message. So I'm restoring to stock and praying the iCloud backup it did previously works. If not she's going to be mad at me for losing all her apps. Not a fun way to spend the night. Apple, it just works. Lean a little closer Tim, so I can smack you.

Agh! It is still doing the same damned thing! I guess I have to wipe it and not restore the backup. What a colossal waste of time.

Did you have it set to automatically fill free space with music?

If so, then music would be deleted to make room for the video and when the video was deleted the music would sync to the phone again.

I did not have that box checked. I didn't know exactly what it did so I'm glad you filled me in.

Ok so this time 26 music tracks copied and the rest have little grey circles next to them. I googled but didn't find an answer. Anybody know what little grey circles next to a track means? Abou 175 tracks did not copy.

So it synced 26 songs, then 6 videos, and then the rest of the songs synced. I don't understand that but ill take it.

Btw, thanks for that link. The symbol I was getting is not on the list making it even more strange.

Thanks for this. Kid just got his MBP revamped and is dropping back from Lion to SL. Apple store told him just back up to cloud and he'd be fine.

I think we'll back him to my TM drive, wipe his HD and start from there. If I'd have made a suggestion that cost him his iTunes the familial damage might have been irreparable.

You probably will have to reinstall the apps from iTunes. I did. I did not have the settings right for auto-reinstalling apps.

I think I will just put an OUT OF ORDER

You are right. I had to reinstall a lot of apps.
