I am not sure, but staying over 80 past 7 PM would be a decent indicator. Six in a row would be a good start to beat the record number of days over 100 (I think it was 34).

66- 65-66

Though every so often, particularly in the summer, I yearn for a day above 72, days when y'all are talking about temps in the three digits makes me glad I live here.

A quick trip to Redding will cure you of that, Paul.

Buddy of mine and I are considering exactly that... Nice drive over the mountains, descend into the furnace, grab at bite at In-N-Out, and back here in time for the afternoon clouds to roll over us.

Eureka is Santa Monica north with wood rot. My nephew lives there and we visit on our northwest visits.
Paul, highway 36 or 299? We did 36 in the "red racer" a couple of years ago. Wife like's to break in a new set of shocks on her '98 Contour SVT on the snake like roads. I just hold on.
It was a warming 101.7 here in SoCal and going up over the weekend.

299 is the shorter, easier route... but 36 is the "fun" route if you have a sports car and like the driving.

Not JUST for In-N-Out... it's mostly to get out of the coastal fog-zone and get our once or twice a year dose of WARM.
In-N-Out is just a little side bonus. None of those near the coast this far north yet.
And since the improvements on Highway 299, it's not 3 hours each way any more... Not quite as short as 2 yet, but it's way better than it used to be.

299 has severe traffic delays this summer...

You have to type in 299.

Save yourself the trouble. While I love INO (grew up in the city where it was founded), the best burger I've ever had was at a little roadside place just outside of Eureka. G took me there at the tail end of our road trip to Eureka some ten years ago. Don't remember the name of the place, but I seem to remember there being a sign out front with the profile of an Indian on it.

I curse the fact that it is so far from L.A. - the burger was THAT good.

Hmm.... just outside to the North? South? East?
Only place I can think of that rings a bell is the "No Brand Burger Stand" in Ferndale... but that's not really "just outside" Eureka.

Whatever happened to G? He kinda dropped off the radar. I tried to email him a couple years ago (?), but no reply.

If you go to Redding, check out the ultra-cool Sundial Bridge.

It was somewhere on 101, south of Eureka, although I don't remember how far.

Whaddaya mean, whatever happened to G? I left him with you! (Or at least in your general vicinity. smiling smiley Haven't heard from him in a long time, either.)
