The BIG Reorganization hits MicroSoft... Ballmer'ing it Old School

"Going forward, our strategy will focus on creating a family of devices and services for individuals and businesses that empower people around the globe at home, at work and on the go, for the activities they value most.
"

Since I don't know Apple's structure... is this a 'we want to be like Apple' proclamation ?

Sure sounds like they're admitting that Apple, and Google, are both kicking them in the gonads all the way down the street to me.

Desktop sales continue to fall, which impacts the cash cows of Office and Windows. They don't have a dominant mobile platform. They are diversified enough to not need them and become something else but not staying as large. Ballmer's restructure needs to address a size reduction.

Seems a little like closing the door after the the cows have escaped from the barn.
Skype has continued to be less user friendly since they have taken over.
By that I mean more crashes, poor connections, and other issues that annoy me
regarding settings. ymmv

To me, it sounds like marketspeak. I don't speak market.
Here's what I get when I strip marketspeak out:

"... our strategy will ... a family of devices and services for individuals and businesses that ... home, at work ...

Maybe somebody else can complete the translation.

Eustace your your perception is keener than the bluster being served as repast
and sumptuous changes proffered by Microdust *(:>*

Here's the complete translation:

Take out the papers and the trash
Or you don't get no spendin' cash
If you don't scrub that kitchen floor
You ain't gonna rock and roll no more
Yakety yak
(Don't talk back)

Just finish cleanin' up your room
Let's see that dust fly with that broom
Get all that garbage out of sight
Or you don't go out Friday night
Yakety yak
(Don't talk back)

You just put on your coat and hat
And walk yourself to the laundromat
And when you finish doin' that
Bring in the dog and put out the cat
Yakety yak
(Don't talk back)

Don't you give me no dirty looks
Your father's hip, he knows what cooks
Just tell your hoodlum friend outside
You ain't got time to take a ride
Yakety yak
(Don't talk back)

Yakety yak, yakety yak
Yakety yak, yakety yak
Yakety yak, yakety yak
Yakety yak, yakety yak

The problem is the future is a combination of hardware and services

Microsoft is behind in both

I work with someone who has a Surface. My first question to him was can you make that clicking sound while break dancing on the conference table. What a great marketing campaign that was.

That said. I can't wait for the Zune II. jest smiley

My first question to him would have been can you make it squirt?

the biggest problem with the reorganization is that Balmer did not resign.
Microsoft is loosing many key people because Balmer won't step aside.
They know there is not place for advancement at Microsoft so they leave for greener pastures.

(Please pardon me for responding to myself.) Apparently, somebody is having the same problem that I have, but they put a lot more effort into deciphering this drivel:
