We had booked a vacation to Madeira a couple years ago. I was googling to find things to do and found this:

It was dark when we landed and thankfully uneventful.

I landed here twice in the last three weeks and numerous times in the last 20 years. You come in winding through a mountain pass. At some points during the landing you are literally looking into the windows of peoples homes as the walls close in during the corkscrew approach over a densely populated city. When the planes touch down, everything gets thrown into reverse to stop by the end of the 6600 foot runway (which has a cliff at one end and a high ridge at the other.

Always and adventure (American requires pilots to fly in at least once every 90 days or lose certification for that route. Some reportedly have purposely missed the flight to get removed from the route.

These videos from Toncontin Airport in Tegucigalpa Honduras are routine landings on good days.
